Operation system deployement & update expert

For our client at the European Commission, we are currently hiring an Operating system deployment & update expert.

Position is located in Brussels, Belgium.

Relocation required.

The following main tasks will be performed by the external service provider:

• Manage infrastructure of information systems both on premise and on the cloud (private/public)

• design solutions for the secure deployment of operating systems to computers both on premise and via the cloud with a particular focus on IT infrastructure supporting audio-visual solutions
• design and implement solutions for quickly and securely patching systems both on premise and via the cloud
• configuration monitoring
• capacity planning
• contingency planning
• security administration and monitoring
• IT Project management for Commission-wide infrastructure and audio-visual projects
• Support and coaching about integration and Dev Sec Ops  tools and methods for developers
• Collaboration with other departments of the Commission

Following additional skills and knowledge are required for the performance of the above listed tasks:

• Very good knowledge and practice of Linux and Windows operating systems including batch script language
• Very good knowledge and practice of Digit and AWS infrastructure
• Very good knowledge and practice of Confluence, SharePoint, JIRA, SMT, Outlook
• Good knowledge of the standard technology stack and building blocks of the Commission
• Good knowledge of the Commission IT procedures
• Ability to cope with fast changing technologies
• Analysis and problem solving skills
• Ability to solve problems efficiently and fast
• Ability to give technical presentations
• Ability to apply high quality standards
• Capability to write clear and structured technical documents
• Ability to participate in technical meetings and good communication skills in English and French
• Excellent ease of communication in English and French (both verbal and written); other additional EU languages will be considered important assets

Following specific expertise is mandatory for the performance of tasks:

• at least 3 years of specific expertise in Linux administration (Red Hat)
• at least 3 years of specific expertise in any Commission’s standard technology related to the Dev Sec Ops  of information system
• at least 3 years of specific expertise in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Ansible…)
• at least 3 years of specific expertise in cloud infrastructure and services (O365, AWS)
• Experience with storage and virtualization solutions
