Location: Town of Belgium

YUSO is an innovative participant in the energy market. We supply 100% green energy and offer battery storage solutions to our customers in order to boost the energy transition. We integrate renewable energy sources such as wind and solar into the existing energy markets and assist in maintaining the balance of the electricity grid at the same time.

YUSO’s expertise is centered around power markets, battery storage projects, and dynamic supply solutions intended to accelerate the transition to a decarbonized energy system. Our expertise is allocated to our clients for the full 100%, 24 hours a day.

YUSO fully focuses on innovation and automation in its activities. We always seek the most efficient, durable, and effective solutions, with transparency as our most important criterion. To support our strong growth, we are currently looking for a Quantitative Analyst.

YUSO is looking to recruit an additional team member eager to leverage their mathematical intellect and analytical mindset to accelerate the energy transition.

You will support YUSO's systematic trading activities, with a strong focus on automated portfolio management and algorithmic proprietary trading across energy markets. Using mathematical modelling in all its forms, from conventional optimization techniques to sophisticated Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, you will help us integrate renewable energy sources into the European power markets.

As these markets become increasingly complex and competitive, we need someone to research, develop, and continuously improve our algorithmic trading strategies. You will be responsible for implementing these strategies in live market conditions, giving you direct exposure to real‑time trading environments. YUSO encourages you to think outside the box and bring your own expertise to a wide range of modelling challenges that exist within the energy sector.

You will collaborate closely with other Quants while maintaining strong interaction with the Trading & Portfolio Management Team.

Responsibilities
  • Research, develop, and implement algorithmic trading strategies for YUSO's energy portfolio.
  • Build and maintain automated portfolio management systems that optimize trading decisions across multiple market time frames.
  • Develop and continuously improve forecasting models for energy markets, predicting everything from our own portfolio behavior to broader market dynamics.
  • Execute proprietary trading strategies across short‑term European power markets, including Day‑Ahead, Intraday, and Imbalance markets.
  • Gain a deep understanding of our algorithmic trading framework to enable the development, implementation, and maintenance of operational trading strategies.
  • Leverage your knowledge of mathematics, statistical methods, Machine Learning, and AI to enhance YUSO's systematic trading capabilities.
  • Analyze time series data across energy markets using statistical and applied mathematical methods to identify trading opportunities.
  • Monitor, manage, and improve existing models by adapting them to new markets or evolving market conditions.
  • Support the expansion into new market areas by adapting and deploying trading strategies for different regulatory and market environments.
  • Collaborate closely with the Trading & Portfolio Management Team to maximize portfolio performance and ensure seamless strategy implementation.
  • Write internal reports and deliver presentations summarizing methods, results, and performance metrics.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, econometrics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a genuine passion for tackling complex challenges.
  • Comfortable with mathematical modelling and computational techniques, from classical optimization methods to Machine Learning approaches.
  • Solid experience with Python for data analysis and modelling. Familiarity with libraries such as Num Py, Pandas, … is required.
  • Interest in financial markets, trading, or optimization problems.
  • Experience with SQL/databases, Git, and cloud platforms (AWS) is a plus.
