We are looking for an ambitious and results-oriented researcher with education and/or background in electrical measurement techniques and power systems. VTT MIKES realizes the SI system of units in Finland, and Electrical Metrology teamis responsible forthe national reference measurement systems of electrical quantities.

As a Research Scientist at Electrical Metrology team, you willparticipatein developing and applying measurement technologies related tosmart electrical grids andpower systems. That includes participation in top-class research in international collaboration projects,development and maintenance of national reference measurement systems,and working in close collaboration with customers in solving theirchallengingmeasurementproblemsand calibrating measurement devices athighest level of accuracy.

Youidentifyand solve problems independently and creatively, while working closely and flexibly with a team of experts.

As a Research Scientist, you will:

• Perform applied metrology research to develop measurement technologies forelectricalpower systems
• Develop andmaintainnational reference measurement systemson electrical power metrology
• Solve customers’challengingmeasurementproblemsand calibrate their measurement instruments at high accuracy level
• Work in close collaboration with electrical metrology experts at VTT MIKES and with our clients and research partners in Finland and abroad

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a person who has experience in electrical and/or measurement techniques, preferably related to power systems, orwho is interested in becoming an expert in this field. We expect that the person has aMaster’sleveldegreeor higherin

Electrical engineering,Physics, or another field connected closely to electrical measurements, andpossiblyhasan interest in postgraduate studies.

Work experience is seen as an advantage but not mandatory.

Englishskillsarerequired, and Finnish skills are considered beneficial.

The following skills and knowledge are considered an asset:

• Experience in performing experiments
• Development of measurement systems
• Experience in power systems
• Electronics design and assembly skills
• Experience in measurement automation and programming
