** Product Development Formulation Engineer – Temporary Assignment
** We are currently looking for a Formulation Engineer for a temporary replacement assignment. The duration of the assignment is 6 months.
** Key Purpose
** As Product Development Formulation Engineer, you are responsible for the local development, adaptation and management of formulations for the WEST region (France, Benelux, Scandinavia). Building on concepts developed by the Central Product Development Team, you translate them into practical, compliant, and cost-effective solutions that meet regional customer requirements and can be reliably manufactured. You collaborate with internal teams and the manufacturing plant to ensure smooth implementation and consistent product quality.
** Key Responsibilities
**** Product Development & Optimisation
*** Develop, adapt, and optimise formulations based on centrally defined product concepts to meet local customer and market requirements, while ensuring the required performance, quality, and cost targets are achieved.
* Support the offer brief and tender process by selecting the most appropriate formulations from the existing product portfolio.
** Customer Technical Support
*** Provide technical support to the commercial and marketing team in the WEST region (France, Benelux, Scandinavia), explaining formulation choices and addressing technical questions related to product performance and application.
** Plant & Industrial Support
*** Provide technical support for factory-related projects, including implementation, troubleshooting, and ensuring first productions meet internal standards and customer requirements.
** Data & Administrative Management
*** Manage and rationalise formulations and raw materials in SAP, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
* Ensure the correct maintenance of technical documentation and administrative records, including the timely completion of mandatory checklists for new raw materials, in accordance with internal procedures.
* Act as a technical point of contact for product performance complaints related to the assigned product categories, delivering structured and timely responses to support customer satisfaction.
** Formulation Chemist Support
*** Provide support and back-up to the Formulation Chemist by contributing practical input and technical insights, including assistance with the follow-up and reporting of stability test results during the development process, as well as the preparation and sampling of developed formulations for customer purposes when required.
** Behavioural Competencies & Personal Characteristics
** You are a structured and pragmatic professional who enjoys working in a technical, multi-stakeholder environment. You can balance quality, cost, and timelines while supporting both customers and manufacturing plants. Key competencies include:

* Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues
* Clear and effective communication, with the ability to motivate and persuade
* Solid project management and organisational skills
* Strong quality mindset, accuracy, and attention to detail
** Technical Competencies & Qualifications
** You have a strong background in chemistry or formulation science, gained through a relevant degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) and/or through practical experience in a similar role. You are comfortable working with technical data and applying your knowledge in a hands-on, industrial environment.

For this regional role, you are fluent in Dutch and English; knowledge of French is a plus. You are at ease with standard IT tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications, and experience with SAP is considered an asset.
