As a Photonics Design Expert, you will lead innovative R&D projects from concept studies to new product introduction (NPI). You will design, model, and validate photonic components and circuits, guide system-level architecture decisions, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge photonic solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to next-generation silicon photonics devices for optical communications, AI applications, and advanced photonic systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead new concept studies and product development projects from R&D to NPI.
- Design and model photonic components and circuits.
- Contribute to chip design reviews to ensure designs meet specifications.
- Validate designs through test planning and statistical analysis of measurement data.
- Define PIC-based system architectures for novel applications (e.g., high-baud-rate transceivers, optical DSP, 6G photonics, RF/mmWave photonics, photonics for AI, 3D/4D image sensing, photonic neural networks).
- Collaborate with local processing and test teams, as well as global component/module teams.
- Interact with stakeholders to secure funding and resources for new R&D projects.
- Conduct literature reviews and participate in conferences to support R&D with new ideas and solutions.
- Preferably PhD in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with 5+ years’ experience in the photonics industry.
- Design and testing of silicon photonics and III-V components.
- Knowledge of integrating PICs with EICs, RF ICs, and driving circuitry in transceiver modules or equivalent subsystems.
- Proven track record in project/product management, bringing components or systems to volume production.
- Product development experience including specification definition, yield improvement, and market-oriented thinking.
- Hands-on experience with photonics modelling tools (e.g., Photon Design, Lumerical) and layout tools (e.g., Luceda Ipkiss).
- Experience with Python and VPI software is advantageous.
