PhD Scholarship in Computational Fluid Dynamics at the University of Louvain
A fully funded PhD position is available in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) at the University of Louvain (UClouvain).The successful candidate will conduct research on turbulent natural convection with an evaporative free surface — a topic of great relevance to both environmental and engineering applications. These complex flows occur in natural systems such as oceans and lakes, as well as in technological contexts including power generation and advanced heat-transfer systems.
This project forms part of a broader research initiative aimed at deepening our understanding of natural convection at high turbulence intensities with phase-change phenomena such as evaporation and boiling.

Required qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics (preferably with some background in fluid mechanics and numerical analysis)
- Strong academic performance with a minimum master’s average grade of 70/100.
- Proficiency in programming, preferably in C/C++ or Python
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English
