Your role as Customs & Trade Compliance Professional

The Global Customs & Trade Compliance Department is one of the pillars of Integrated Supply Chain, with a strong connection towards Logistics, Production, Commercial, Legal, Finance and the other departments within Integrated Supply Chain (Supply planning, Demand planning, Production planning and Material planning).

The Customs & Trade Compliance Professional is responsible and accountable for all Customs & Trade Compliance processes in our European factories and entities, with focus on our Belgian Operations.

You provide operational solutions in case of issues with customs & global trade. You also look continuously for ways of improving our processes so we can work in a more efficient way.

Other tasks and responsibilities are:
  • Process Owner for Customs & Trade Compliance in our European factories and entities
  • Owner of the Customs & Excise licenses
  • Excise warehouses / Transit / Inward Processing / End Use / Bonded Warehouse /…
  • Licenses and guarantees management
  • SPOC for Customs authorities & networking
  • Specialist in EU Customs and Excise legislation
  • Follow up on Clearances and non Clearances of Customs documents
  • Conduct regular risk assessments related to customs & trade activities
  • Super User for Customs Software (Descartes)
  • Product classification, valuation and origin (HS and ECCN) / FTA
  • Project related support (UCC, CBAM, EUDR, AEO…)
  • Follow up on KPI’s
  • Customs control
  • Customs compliance
  • Reporting
  • Audit the documented Customs & Trade Compliance procedures in the different production locations.
What is needed for you to succeed?

You are accustomed to working in an international company as a team player collaborating with colleagues from different locations and internal and external stakeholders. You are enthusiastic, analytical, accurate and assertive. You work with a strong drive, getting your energy from achieving your goals. You possess good business acumen and demonstrate excellent communication skills as you interact on different levels.

Other requirements:
  • Bachelor degree, preferably in Logistics and /or Customs – a Finance background is certainly a plus.
  • Knowledge of customs (export‑declarations, transit of goods, certificates of origin, preferential agreements, global trade, customs compliancy..)
  • Knowledge of EMCS (Excise Management & Control System) and excise legislation is a strong asset
  • You have a strong connection with Global Trade & Customs and you are interested in Customs Legislation
  • Strong administrative skills and very accurate.
  • Proactive and pragmatic;
  • Excellent communication skills in English and take lead in communications and meeting with internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of SAP S4/HANA
  • Excel skills above average / BI‑reporting knowledge is a plus
  • You are process‑driven and have experience in process‑mapping / instructions
  • Some Project management skills are certainly an advantage
  • You are willing to travel to our factories and departments in other European Countries
  • The function is a Full‑time assignment
