Overview
Consultant / Senior Heritage Consultant - United Kingdom at WSP in the UK & Ireland. The Cultural Heritage and Archaeology team works across the UK and Ireland, covering archaeology, built heritage, setting and design throughout the full project lifecycle. We provide expert advice on heritage-related enquiries addressing management of change in the historic environment and work on high-profile infrastructure projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You will be based in either the Glasgow or Edinburgh offices and will lead fieldwork projects from planning and consent applications, delivering bespoke archaeological strategies and works for developments and infrastructure. You should have a specialism or area of knowledge that contributes to the team and wider business, with a strong awareness of Health and Safety and risk management on fieldwork projects.
You will be expected to deliver high-quality work, maintain excellent relationships with clients and peers, and contribute to business development and marketing opportunities.
Responsibilities- Monitoring and assuring the work of WSP-approved fieldwork subcontractors, on-site and in the technical review of deliverables, including RAMS.
- Preparing competitive tenders and designing the scope and methodology for archaeological fieldwork in accordance with WSP Health and Safety protocols and requirements.
- Producing or contributing to archaeological desk-based assessments.
- Undertaking stakeholder, curator and client liaison.
- Experience of archaeological fieldwork project management (project, financial and staff management).
- Robust knowledge of Ireland archaeology and history and knowledge of the planning process and relevant environmental/heritage legislation and guidance in Ireland.
- Experience in heritage and planning, master planning, heritage conservation, heritage-led regeneration, recreation and tourism, heritage sustainability master planning, placemaking, multi-disciplinary collaboration and business development.
- Excellent writing skills, good communication and teamwork abilities.
- A highly motivated, conscientious and efficient approach to work, capable of meeting deadlines and budgets within a busy consultancy environment.
