JOB TITLE: Mobile Catering Assistant
REPORTS TO: Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor of base SMK
RESPONSIBLE TO: Catering Manager through appropriate Area Catering Manager
JOB PURPOSETo actively participate in the daily operation of the Catering Unit under the direction of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor and to provide efficient hygienic service to achieve customer satisfaction and promote sales.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Basic preparation of food and beverages including vegetable and snack preparation.
- Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
- Organise and control food service points.
- Transfer and serve meals and snacks, including transported meals.
- Assist in promotion of meals to pupils, parents and the principal.
- Maintain regular contact with the central kitchen regarding service delivery.
- Prepare the dining area – set out tables, chairs, benches and serving points, place cutlery, water, jugs.
- Complete general kitchen and dining room duties including washing, clearing equipment, tables and benches.
- Clean kitchen, servery, dining room, floors and walls.
- Record temperatures for control purposes.
- Secure premises as required.
- Perform delegated duties in connection with service provision.
- Carry out all duties in compliance with statutory instruments, regulations and codes of practice.
- Work within normal job conditions and complete necessary administration.
- Promote and adhere to the values/ethos of the school.
- Willingness to undertake job‑related training.
- Access to a suitable vehicle or alternative transport that allows mobility requirements to be met.
- Effective leadership and people‑management skills; ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effective planning, organisational and decision‑making skills with ability to work under pressure.
- Motivation towards providing excellent food and customer service for children and young people.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding and the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (NI) Order 2007.
- Experience in a customer‑service or catering role.
DISCL. OF CRIMINAL BACKGROUND – The successful applicant will require an enhanced disclosure check at a cost of £33, payable at pre‑employment.
