Job Purpose

Reporting to the Compliance Manager we are looking for a dedicated Quality Assistant to support the quality function in our packaging facility. This role is essential in upholding our commitment to providing quality products to our customers while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist the Compliance Manager in maintaining the companys Quality Management System and site standards.
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in promoting a quality culture within the company and provide support with quality culture activities.
  • Provide support with quality SHEQ inductions for new staff.
  • Conduct visual inspections and perform functional quality checks at all stages of production.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection results, log non-conformities and quarantine product as applicable.
  • Inspect and maintain production samples.
  • Assist in the preparation, maintenance and review of production documentation, quality-related documentation, issue logs & SOPs.
  • Assist in the maintenance and review of the companys document register.
  • Assist the Compliance Manager with supplier and customer approvals.
  • Compile and maintain detailed product specifications.
  • Support the Compliance Manager and other departments within the company to investigate and identify root cause analysis / corrective actions for customer, supplier, and internal issues.
  • Assist with companys traceability system and provide support in testing it.
  • Assist the Compliance Manager with product recalls / withdrawals and the testing of the relevant SOPs.
  • Be an integral member of our Hazard and Risk Analysis (HACCP) team.
  • Provide support to the Compliance Manager in preparing for external audits.
  • Carry out audits against the BRCGS packaging Standard as part of an internal audit program.
  • Carry out GMP, glass, brittle plastic, knife, and hygiene audits.
  • Ensuring Company policy, procedures and Health & Safety requirements are adhered to at all times.
  • Other duties as and when required.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years proven experience within a similar role within the FMCG industry is preferable, however not essential, as training can be provided.
  • Knowledge of the BRCGS packaging materials Standard would be advantageous.
  • Educational qualifications Minimum GCSE Level (A-C) or Equivalent (Maths & English)
  • HACCP qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Trained internal auditor would be advantageous but not essential.

Skills/Knowledge

  • A keen eye for detail with the ability to spot quality defects and follow detailed processes and procedures.
  • Ability to proactively use your own initiative and prioritise workloads whilst maintaining deadlines.
  • Ability to operate effectively and flexibly within a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid problem-solving and objective decision making, with the ability to think on your feet.
  • Professional communicator with sound interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders, both within the company and externally.
  • Strong numeracy, literacy and report writing skills.
  • Competent IT Literacy, with proficiency in MS Office in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
