As an integral part of gynaecological services in BHSCT, the urogynaecological service offers high quality care for women with lower urinary tract disorders and other symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction. The service includes planned and unplanned assessment, investigations including urodynamics and administration of conservative and surgical treatments for women with urogynaecological problems. The service is provided for women attending gynaecology and urogynaecology outpatients.
The unit acts as a resource for those with urogynaecological issues and is multidisciplinary in nature.

- Use a person centred holistic approach to assess both the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient and act as a resource to all disciplines involved in the delivery of care to this patient group.
- Plan, agree and communicate specialised programmes of care to support timely access to the relevant care pathway.
- Act as a key member of the multidisciplinary team and Health and Social Care partnerships to provide collaborative care and to achieve an optimum level of service for patients.
- Deliver and promote evidence based practice and agreed care pathways.
- Registered Nurse Part 1 Level 1 on the Live NMC Register.
- NMC recorded Specialist Practice Qualification in related area of Practice. If the individual doesn’t have this qualification they must be willing to undertake and successfully complete the Qualification, within a timescale as agreed by the manager.
- Certificate in urodynamics. If the individual doesn’t have this qualification they must be willing to undertake and successfully complete the Qualification, within a timescale as agreed by the manager.
- NMC recorded Non Medical Independent/ Supplementary Prescribing. If the individual doesn’t have this qualification they must be willing to undertake and successfully complete the Qualification, within a timescale as agreed by the manager.
- 3 years’ post registration experience relevant to role (gynaecology/urology)
- Evidence of delivery of teaching sessions on both a formal and informal basis.
