Community, Participation & Volunteering Co-ordinator

Summary Join the National Trust team in Mid Ulster and help shape how local people, volunteers and community groups connect with three of our most iconic places. This permanent role focuses on building partnerships, supporting volunteers, and creating meaningful opportunities for participation across the Mid Ulster property group, including The Argory, Springhill and Ardress House and more. You'll be part of a team caring for exceptional landscapes, waterways and historic buildings, working closely with partners and volunteers to deliver conservation work, improve access and share the stories of these special places.

With expanding community projects and new ways for people to get involved, it's an exciting time to make a real impact. This role will require the successful candidate to travel between National Trust sites and to external meetings. Therefore, due to the nature of this role a full UK Driving Licence is required. Enhanced Access NI check will be done on appointment.

This role involves some weekend, occasional evening working and duty manager shifts. What it's like to work here This role sits within the National Trust's Fermanagh & Mid Ulster Portfolio , working across five distinctive and much-loved Mid Ulster places:
Ardress House , The Argory , Springhill , Wellbrook Beetling Mill and Gray's Printing Press . Mid Ulster lies at the heart of Northern Ireland, shaped by rich cultural heritage, rural landscapes and strong community identity. It's a region where stories, craftsmanship and historic industries continue to influence local life and inspire visitors. Ardress House , near Portadown, is an elegant 17th-century farmhouse transformed into a charming Georgian residence, surrounded by orchards, parkland and a working farmyard that brings traditional rural life to the fore.

The Argory , close to Moy, is a handsome 19th-century Irish gentry house set within a beautiful riverside estate, known for its characterful interiors, woodland walks and strong family history. Springhill , near Moneymore, is one of the Trust's most atmospheric 17th-century houses, celebrated for its collections, gardens and the stories of the Lenox-Conyngham family. Wellbrook Beetling Mill , hidden in the Ballinderry Valley, is the last working beetling mill in Ireland - a rare survivor of the linen industry where heritage skills and industrial history come vividly to life.

Gray's Printing Press , in the heart of Strabane, offers a unique window into the world of early printing, craftsmanship and communication, with original presses and stories that connect past and present. Together, these five remarkable places create an inspiring setting for community engagement, volunteering and partnership work , offering opportunities to connect people with heritage, craft, landscape and local identity in meaningful and creative ways.

What you'll be doing As our Community, Participation and Volunteering Coordinator, you'll help shape how people connect with the National Trust across Mid Ulster. You'll champion inclusive, community-focused engagement, working with the Community, Participation and Volunteering Manager to deliver opportunities that welcome people from all backgrounds. You'll support volunteer managers across our properties, giving them the tools and confidence to create flexible, rewarding volunteering experiences.

From developing new ways for people to get involved to strengthening relationships with local groups, you'll help build meaningful pathways into our work. Every day will look different, you might be co-creating a project with a community partner, supporting volunteer teams, or exploring new approaches to participation.
