Aerospace manufacturing engineer

🕒 40 hours per week (Scope for overtime)

An exciting Outside IR35 contract opportunity is available with a leading aerospace programme transitioning from prototype into low-rate production. Headcount is approved for the year, and this role will play a key part in industrialising aircraft manufacturing and assembly systems.

You will support the industrialisation of aircraft and sub-assembly production systems, driving manufacturing capability and process excellence across final assembly operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering Manufacturing Engineering elements of APQP (AS9145)
• Creating PFMEA, SOPs, work instructions
  , and process documentation
• Defining requirements for fixtures and tooling (handover to Tooling teams)
• Developing production cell layouts and industrial planning methodologies
• Understanding process times and condition of supply
• Supporting industrialisation of sub-assembly lines (including propeller assemblies)
• Embedding Lean Manufacturing and DfM/A principles
• Working across major interfaces and junctions including:
  • EWIS
  • HV/LV EWIS interference (beneficial)

• 6+ years’ experience in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering
• Strong background in NPI & industrialisation
• Final aircraft assembly experience (wings, fuselage)
• Experience with EWIS or instrumentation installation
• Propeller assembly & balancing experience
• Materials & Processes conversion for production
• Strong problem-solving capability and ability to operate in ambiguity
