Are you ready to take the lead in shaping compliance strategy for a market‑leading food retail, wholesale, and food service business?

My client is seeking an experienced Lead Compliance Manager to oversee all compliance matters across their Northern Ireland operations. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for ensuring the business meets evolving regulatory requirements while supporting its growth and sustainability ambitions.

Responsibilities
  • Take overall ownership of compliance across multiple divisions, including wholesale, retail, food service, and licensed trade.
  • Monitor and embed new legislation (e.g. Windsor Framework, deposit return schemes, alcohol and excise regulations, sustainability reporting).
  • Develop and update policies and procedures to ensure robust compliance frameworks.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to implement best practice processes and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide strategic input into business decision‑making from a compliance perspective.
  • Oversee audits and support Finance with legal and statutory obligations.
  • Lead and develop the compliance team, driving accountability and fostering talent.
  • Deliver ongoing training and clear communication to colleagues on compliance responsibilities.
  • Represent the business with regulators, industry groups, and trade associations where required.
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in business, law, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Proven track record in managing compliance within retail, wholesale, or alcohol environments.
  • Knowledge of excise duty regimes (duty paid/deferred) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Skilled at building relationships and influencing at senior level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including policy drafting and report writing.
  • Detail‑focused, logical, and proactive in approach.
  • Passionate about raising standards and driving continuous improvement.
