Cloud Engineer (Azure)

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to design, build, and operate secure Azure platforms within highly regulated environments. This role is focused on architecting and deploying Azure services that meet NIST 800-53 (or equivalent) compliance requirements, embedding security by design from day one.

You'll work closely with software engineers and data teams to ensure cloud platforms, pipelines, and services are compliant, scalable, and production ready, acting as a trusted cloud authority across delivery teams.

• Architecting and deploying Azure infrastructure aligned to NIST 800-53 requirements
• Building secure, compliant cloud platforms using security-by-default principles
• Implementing and enforcing governance using Azure Policy
• Designing secure networking patterns using Private Link and Azure networking
• Supporting development teams with shift-left security and compliant CI/CD pipelines
• Advising on identity, access control, and platform standards

• Strong hands-on experience as a Senior Azure / Cloud / Platform Engineer
• Proven delivery experience in regulated environments (public sector, finance, healthcare, defence, etc.)
• Practical experience deploying Azure services to meet NIST 800-53 or similar frameworks
• Strong understanding of Security by Design principles

• Designing and deploying secure Azure platforms using Application Gateway and WAF
• Building and operating containerised workloads with Azure Container Apps and Azure Container Registry
• Implementing secure data and platform services including Key Vault, Cosmos DB, and Azure SQL / PostgreSQL
• Deploying and supporting data and AI workloads, including Databricks and integrations with Azure AI services
• Enforcing governance through Azure Policy, secure networking (Private Link), and Microsoft Entra  managed identities

• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub and Git Hub Actions
• Embedding security controls into pipelines, including SAST and DAST

• Experience with Azure Sentinel, monitoring, auditing, and log management
• Exposure to external identities and identity governance

• Work on high-impact, compliance-critical Azure platforms
• Be part of a consultative, engineering-led culture
• Influence architecture and security decisions from the ground up
• Fully remote role with flexibility and autonomy
