Specialist Ultra sonographer (Band 7) & Lead Radiographer (Band 8)

Employer:

Leading Hospital in Belfast (represented by MYN)

Location:

Belfast (Trust wide across multiple hospital sites within the Belfast area)

Contract:

Permanent, Full Time
Salary:
Band 7 & Band 8 (depending on experience and role)

The Opportunity

We are looking for passionate and skilled Ultra sonographers to join a dynamic team. The Ultrasound departments are busy, modern, and equipped to deliver a comprehensive range of diagnostic services. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high quality patient care.

Clinical Services Include
  • General Abdominal and Gynaecological Scanning
  • Antenatal Scanning (including early pregnancy and anomaly)
  • Peripheral Vascular and Carotid Doppler Scanning
  • Paediatric, Testes, and MSK Scanning
  • Emergency Department and In patient services
Main Responsibilities (Band 7+)

Clinical Excellence:
Perform a wide range of highly skilled ultrasound examinations, providing an accurate and timely diagnostic service. You will be expected to work independently, reporting on general, gynaecological, vascular, and obstetric cases.

Patient Care:
Act as a champion for patient experience, ensuring compassionate and professional care is delivered at every interaction.

Leadership & Mentorship:
Provide expert advice and clinical support to junior staff and students, fostering a learning environment. You will lead by example, maintaining the highest personal standards of work while promoting effective teamwork.

Service Delivery:
Collaborate closely with Consultant Radiologists, Clinicians, and the Trust Lead Ultrasonographer to ensure a seamless, high quality service. You will assist in delegating tasks appropriately to match service demands and skill levels.

Professional Autonomy:
Take responsibility for your own continuing professional development (CPD) and contribute to the audit and research activities within the department.

Main Responsibilities (Band 8 Lead Role)

In addition to the Band 7 responsibilities, the Lead Radiographer will:

  • Service Management:
    Provide professional and operational leadership for the ultrasound service, working closely with the Clinical Services Manager and Trust Lead Ultra sonographer.
  • Strategic Development:
    Contribute to service improvement plans, policy development, and the implementation of best practice guidelines to ensure the service meets the evolving needs of the population.
