The Business Development Specialist – Fires & Joint Effects supports the organisation’s engagement with Defence and Defence Primes stakeholders in relation to fires, effects integration, and operational readiness, with a primary focus on the Australian fires’ domain, while also engaging with other nations, joint and other Service stakeholders as appropriate.

This role contributes to understanding Defence requirements across Long-, medium-, and short- range fires, joint effects, and integration activities, with an emphasis on Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training and operational work-up.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage professionally with Defence Stakeholders, Defence Primes, other nations as directed, acting as the primary POC, with Army, Navy, and joint organisations as appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of Defence Programs, exercises and initiatives relevant to fires, effects integration, and readiness.
  • Represent the organization in a manner consistent with Defence probity, ethics, and governance expectations.
Market Insight & Opportunity Support
  • Provide informed insight into emerging Defence requirements related to fires and joint effects.
  • Support the identification and qualification of potential opportunities in accordance with the internal governance process.
  • Contribute to internal discussions on how LVC solutions may support joint training, integration, and operational work-up.
  • Represent PLEXSYS at industry forums, Defence Exhibitions, and key customer engagements.
  • Work closely with internal teams to shape customer solutions and proposals.
Internal Collaboration/Capability Support
  • Work collaboratively with internal technical, product, and business teams
  • Ensure market insights and opportunity information are documented and communicated appropriately
  • Support Proposal or capture activities as requested and within agreed scope
  • Develop and Maintain proficiency in operating the PLEXSYS ecosystem,
  • Ensure all demonstrations and customer engagements are delivered to a high standard and are relevant, accurate, and aligned to Defence training and operational contexts
  • Work with internal teams to ensure demonstrations are appropriately configured and effective for the intended audience
Commercial and Governance Framework
  • Part-time engagement with a clearly defined scope, deliverables, and review points
  • All activities are conducted in accordance with Australian Government probity principles, Defence ethical standards, applicable company policies, and relevant Commonwealth Procurement Rules
  • The role does not involve lobbying activities and does not replace, or bypass established Defence procurement processes
Required Qualifications & Experience Essential:
  • Experience with in Defence or the Defence Industry
  • Strong professional integrity and understanding of Defence expectations.
  • Experience with training systems, simulation, or LVC environment
  • Must be an Australian Citizen and be eligible to gain or hold and maintain an Australian security clearance.
Desirable:
  • Working knowledge of Army fires, joint effects, or operational readiness environments
  • Background in Army fires, joint fires, air or maritime effects integration
