Senior Business Analyst – EMIR Trade & Transaction Reporting Team Overview

The Data & Regulatory Operations function is a centralized team responsible for oversight of day-to-day compliance for regulatory reporting, including exception management and risk mitigation across the EMEA region.

The team oversees daily regulatory reporting activities and associated exception management, providing a strong governance framework to safeguard the firm and its clients in meeting reporting obligations. Regulatory Operations partners closely with Compliance, Business, Technology, and Operations teams to interpret, investigate, and remediate regulatory-related issues, while tracking risk through metrics analysis, trend oversight, and timely escalation.

Role Overview

The Senior Business Analyst within the EMIR Reporting Team is responsible for oversight of key controls and processes to ensure high-quality regulatory reporting delivery on behalf of the firm and its clients.

This role includes:

  • Reviewing trade and transaction reporting validation and reconciliation exceptions relating to data submitted to National Competent Authorities (e.g., FCA, Central Bank of Ireland, BaFin).
  • Supporting governance and control management through collaboration with Operations, Technology, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Business stakeholders.
  • Working alongside senior management to identify issues and contribute to data-driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support implementation, monitoring, and testing of submission data and exceptions/rejections to enhance controls that ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of regulatory reporting obligations under EMIR, following established issue management processes.
  • Assist in verifying ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory processes within the Reporting team, helping to identify and remediate control gaps (including key control analysis, UAT support for enhancements, and reporting remediation activities).
  • Collaborate with Technology and key stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and drive a proactive approach to exception management.
  • Partner with Change and QA teams to ensure appropriate documentation, testing, resolution implementation, and maintenance of audit trails and sign-offs.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across Business, Technology, and Compliance functions to foster effective cross-functional partnerships.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience compiling and analyzing large data sets.
  • Familiarity with exception-based controls and operational processing environments.
  • Experience working within a risk and control framework.
  • Exposure to regulatory reporting, financial services regulation, or risk and control environments (preferred but not essential).
  • Understanding of how regulatory or external changes may impact processes and controls.
Skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Analytical and numerate, with the ability to investigate complex data issues (SQL and JIRA experience beneficial but not essential).
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, self-organized, and able to work on own initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Professional judgement with confidence to elevate where appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Educated to A-Level standard (or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
