An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join a leading UK retail bank, supporting a key strategic growth area within its Retail Banking division. This 12-month FTC offers genuine visibility, autonomy and exposure within a high-profile lending function at a time of significant momentum and investment.

This role sits at the heart of the bank’s retail lending operations, acting as a core legal partner to the business on consumer credit and unsecured lending matters. This role is dedicated to lending products and the regulatory frameworks that shape them, making it an excellent platform for someone keen to develop depth in consumer credit.

With ongoing reform of the Consumer Credit Act, this is a particularly interesting time to join. There is real scope to build expertise and contribute to how consumer lending will be governed in the future.

You will join a collaborative and experienced legal team, with deep consumer credit expertise. The role is based in Belfast, and requires someone comfortable working independently, confident engaging directly with stakeholders and proactive in building strong relationships across the business.

The team is open on PQE and background. Lawyers with Regulatory, Banking & Finance, or Consumer Credit experience will all be considered, whether currently in private practice or in-house.

Commercial awareness, strong communication skills and an interest in market developments, including areas such as AI and legal tech, will be highly valued.
