Assistant Accountant

Downey Osborne is partnering with a growing and highly respected private healthcare provider to recruit an Assistant Accountant.

• Actively studying with strong practical experience, or a qualified Accounting Technician such as AAT or qualified by experience.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to communicate effectively across finance and operational teams

• Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts
• Post journals, accruals and prepayments
• Support balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate supporting documentation
• Produce variance analysis and supporting schedules
• Maintain strong financial controls and documentation standards

• Review Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable postings for accuracy
• Assist with aged debt analysis and cash allocation
• Support improvements to billing and payment processes
• Collaborate with operational teams to support financial reporting

• Contribute to commercial and operational finance analysis
• Support process improvements across the finance function
• Assist with ad hoc reporting and finance projects

• Compromise on accuracy or financial control standards
• Attempt to balance the accounts while balancing on one leg
