ACCA, CIMA, QUALIFIED ACCOUNTANT, CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT, NCIS Your new company You will be joining the Department of Justice (DoJ) within the Financial Services Division, based at Castle Buildings, Stormont. The division provides financial support services across the Department, its agencies and Non‑Departmental Public Bodies, playing a key role in strategic financial planning, governance and decision‑making. Your new role As a Staff Officer Accountant within the Financial Planning and Strategy Team, you will support departmental‑level financial planning and in‑year budget management.

This role provides exposure to senior stakeholders and contributes directly to financial advice provided to the Departmental Board, Senior Management Team, Minister and Justice Committee. Key responsibilities may include:
Work on key areas of financial planning at a Departmental level, may include, but is not limited to:
Providing in-year budget management across the Department, including monthly financial reporting and in-year budget management exercises (monitoring rounds, estimates, forecast outturn, AME forecasts and provisional and final outturn);
Delivery of financial support to the Core Department and NDPB’s;
Preparing and reviewing financial briefing as required (Assembly Questions, FOI’s, Ministerial and Justice Committee briefings);
Reviewing information for senior management to ensure that financial implications are identified and considered; and Engage with the Departments DoF supply team on DoJ expenditure proposals and financial governance issues What you’ll need to succeed To be considered for this role, you will need: A recognised Accountancy Qualification Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills The ability to work with large volumes of numerical data, particularly using MS Excel Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills The ability to build effective working relationships with senior stakeholders, including DoF Experience working to tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment What you’ll get in return In return, you will receive: £24.04 – £25.01 per hour (circa £41,272 per annum) Hybrid working: 2 days in the office, 3 days from home Flexi-time with flexible start and finish times 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday A 12-month temporary contract, offering a strong pathway to apply for upcoming permanent NICS competitions with line manager support Valuable experience within a high-profile public sector finance function What you need to do now If you’re interested in this role, click ‘apply now’ to forward an up‑to‑date copy of your CV, or call us now.
