Kenect Recruitment – Senior Engineering Process Operator
Kenect Recruitment is looking for a Senior Engineering Process Operator to join our trusted client's team in Belfast.
Work schedule:
07:00 – 19:00, Monday‑Sunday (shift work), 40‑hour week. Salary: £20.59 per hour.
Primary duties include shift pattern work.
- Monitor and control all automated sludge treatment and incineration processes on a 24/7 basis, ensuring seamless coverage through effective shift changeover and communication procedures.
- Operate according to Best Operational Practice to meet targets and make process changes for compliance.
- Monitor environmental emissions and adjust operation and dosing to maintain compliance.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, maintenance team and sludge clients daily to ensure current status awareness.
- Report all plant defects accurately via the company maintenance reporting system, provide plant for maintenance/inspections, and complete plant release procedures.
- Assist in preparing operational reports as requested by the operations manager / STL.
- Follow routine and non‑routine start‑up and shut‑down procedures.
- Report process/product non‑compliance.
- Provide operational trends and KPI information (weekly, monthly, annually) and plant availability data.
- Respond to incidents, escalating as appropriate, and report events/accidents to Line Manager in a timely manner.
- Initiate all out‑of‑hours incident investigations to capture relevant health, safety and environmental data.
- Manage timely provision of bulk consumables, spares and other materials.
- Maintain records on all chemical deliveries.
- Optimize day‑to‑day processes to reduce chemical and power consumption.
- Forecast chemical, spares, materials and power consumption for budget holders during monthly budget reviews.
- Ensure site security.
- Ensure 24/7 health & safety responsibility in process area, logging and actioning issues.
- Provide immediate mitigation of H&S risks as appropriate.
- Monitor housekeeping and implement improvements where necessary.
- Administer BMS procedures such as planned maintenance, emissions and customer complaints response.
- Maintain maintenance records.
- Perform tool work when requested.
- Minimum 2 years process experience.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent electrical/mechanical qualification.
- Strong communication skills.
- IT literacy (Word & Excel proficiency).
- Experience in process plant operations and/or maintenance.
- Time‑management ability.
- Capability to operate or train to operate a variety of mobile equipment and fixed plant.
- Availability for continuous rotating shift patterns, including voluntary overtime to cover workload and colleagues’ absences.
- Self‑motivated, able to prioritise tasks and work with minimal supervision.
- Good team player with oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and creative problem‑solving approach.
- Effective communication and informed decision‑making skills.
- Knowledge of waste incineration.
