Advert UTEC, part of Acteon Group, is one of the world's largest independent offshore and onshore survey providers. We provide a wide range of survey, positioning and data management services using the most advanced equipment and techniques. The data we generate provides our clients with the information they need to make critical, well‑informed, business decisions.

UTEC is looking to add a Data Processor to the team. The Data Processor is responsible for the on‑board processing, QC and management of all relevant acquired data including but not limited to hydrographic and/or bathymetric data, as well as the production of associated charts.

The role is based offshore and will require travel to support UTEC operations; periods of onshore support may also be required working either remotely or from UTEC offices/workshops.

The successful candidates will be based in Brazil.

Duties
  • Inspect the quality of raw data and inform supervisor if data is not at the required standard
  • Review survey logs compiled by data acquisition crews
  • Process acquired data sets using the Company’s selected processing software
  • Keep processing logs up to date and record offsets used during processing
  • Discuss the processing requirements of individual datasets with teams and advisers
  • Management of time to prioritize processing tasks in order to meet project requirements and deadlines
  • Follow pre‑defined processing sequence from procedures or on instruction from supervisor
  • QC dataset at each stage of the processing sequence to ensure data integrity
  • Discuss requirements and final deliverables with supervisor on a regular basis to ensure processing sequence is fit for purpose
  • Adhere to Company standards in order to maintain quality management systems
  • Create / Amend Charts as per project requirements
  • Actively participate and lead by example in the Company’s Quality and HSE systems and procedures
  • Understand and comply with UTEC policies and procedures
  • Be prepared to “Stop the Job” in the event that yourself, others or equipment may be exposed to injury / damage
Required
  • Bilingual in Portuguese and English, strongly preferred
  • Degree in Geomatics, Surveying Science preferred
  • Relevant industry experience or military/academic experience in survey related discipline
  • Satisfactory completion of competence criteria for Data Processor Grade II
  • Nominally 12 months experience, including 80 operational days offshore as a Data Processor Grade II
