Job Description & How to Apply Below

We deliver forward-thinking solutions for the world’s biggest asset owners, transforming the places where we live, work, and travel. Our success comes from a practical approach. We pride ourselves on solving complex challenges with original thinking, then turning it into a reality.

Amey Engineering teams improve the environment and create sustainable flooding solutions across the UK, by working in partnership with a range of clients, providing consultancy design services for Local Authorities, Strategic and Local transport providers and organisations delivering National Infrastructure. We make our towns and cities better places to live by improving connectivity, flood resilience, sustainability and quality of life.

The Role

Due to an increased workload, we are looking to recruit Flooding Civil Engineers. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the Flooding and Water Management team in our Belfast or Cardiff offices, providing effective support and assistance to the senior engineers and team leaders on a variety of flood schemes.

We have been confirmed as the lead engineering consultant working with the NI Department for Infrastructure (DFI) on their Water and Departmental Delivery contract for the next five years, as well as NI Transport Asset Management and Translink contracts. We are working on a range of flood management projects for Regional Authorities in Wales, South-West and Midlands areas, National Highways and National Rail, and looking to expand further in these areas.

As a Flooding Civil Engineer at Amey Consulting, you’ll see your work from early design to the very end result, and every project will be different from the last. You’ll feel inspired to challenge yourself, as well as your colleagues. You’ll have the opportunity to thrive and we’ll help you shape your career whether through further qualification, learning new skills, or whatever else you need to achieve your ambitions.

We strongly encourage development towards a professional qualification with a recognised Institution and pride ourselves on mentoring engineers. We can offer significant support towards Chartership, and you will be rewarded with a bonus of up to £5k on completion.

In a typical week you will :
  • Undertake preliminary and detailed design of civil engineering projects,
  • Prepare civil engineering drawings, contract specifications and bills of quantities for projects,
  • Provide supervision and management of contracts for both minor and major projects,
  • Undertake feasibility studies,

  • Contribute to the development of tender documents for small and large scale procurements,
  • Undertake work relating to the programme management of Strategic Road Improvement Schemes, and
  • Procure civil engineering works through the Northern Ireland public procurement process.
We want to hear from you if you :
  • Have a Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject,
  • Have at least three years post qualification experience in the feasibility, design, supervision and overall management of civil engineering projects,
  • Have achieved at least Incorporated Engineer status as defined by the Engineering Council, or agree to a formal training agreement leading towards Chartered Engineer status as defined by the Engineering Council and agreed on a realistic programme towards achieving a professional qualification,
