The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott Mac Donald’s regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross‑sector skills across five key sectors:
Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.

We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Building Management Systems (BMS) Consulting Engineer with experience as a control systems integrator to join a team of Building Services Discipline serving the Built Environment and other sectors. The role will be mainly project‑delivery focussed but also support technical capability, staff development, project profitability and project bids. The BMS controls team works across multiple sectors including aviation buildings, utilities and energy, residential, defence, healthcare, local authority, sports and other sectors in the UK and overseas.

The role will work across a variety of BMS, automatic controls, smart infrastructure and systems including but not limited to building management systems, building services controls, building ELV, cabling systems, data centres, telecommunication systems, IP networks.

We are recruiting a candidate to build client relationships (both internally and externally) with excellent project delivery, communication and engagement skills. The candidate will be self‑motivated and capable of delivering high‑quality designs, specifications and technical advice to time and budget, with minimum supervision. Candidates will have a strong background in controls manufacturers, systems integrators or collaborative consultancy and design of BMS controls and associated systems.

Candidates will also demonstrate experience and capability across the project lifecycle from requirements capture, concept design, detailed design, construction and handover. Strong written and verbal communication of technical issues to varied technical and non‑technical audiences will be key to the success of the role.

• Experience of working at a controls system integrator
• Experience leading BMS and systems elements on multi‑disciplinary projects
• Enthusiastic and ambitious with a strong teamwork ethic
• Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentations
• Experience of managing client relationships and expectations with accountability for key customer relationships and delivery of outputs
• Working as an BMS, controls and systems specialist providing high‑level advice to others
