THE ROLE

The postholder will provide in-depth knowledge and understanding of technical aspects of fashion fabrication and production in order to support a range of activities in fashion design and construction. The role mainly supports the following programmes: BA Hons Textile Art, Design and Fashion; MSc Fashion and Textile Retail Management; BA Hons Product Design; MSc Art Therapy;
Foundation (year
0); and other courses and activities as required within the Belfast School of Art. Within the discipline of Fashion Design and Construction, the postholder will provide skilled technical assistance, instruction, and guidance, demonstrating equipment and processes as appropriate. The postholder will ensure the effective provision and availability of specialist equipment and work areas in order to facilitate academic delivery, student learning, research, and knowledge exchange activities.

Technical Support staff are involved with students in formative assessment and feedback as required.

ABOUT YOU
  • A degree, foundation degree, or NVQ4, or equivalent in an area relevant to Fashion Design and Construction.
  • Experience in the use of industry standard machines, including knowledge of relevant processes, regulations, and quality standards for Fashion Design and Construction.
  • Experience and in-depth understanding of pattern blocks and the development of metric patterns and fabric draping for clothing.
