The Role Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial Team. This role involves managing all costs associated with construction projects from initial estimates and tendering through to final accounts. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered within budget, in line with quality standards, and fully compliant with contractual and regulatory requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware QS who enjoys taking ownership of project finances while working closely with site and management teams.
Key Responsibilities Assist with detailed cost estimates and pre-construction activities Develop and maintain project budgets aligned with client expectations Produce and maintain accurate project cost reports Support the preparation of tender documentation Evaluate contractor and subcontractor bids Lead negotiation of contracts with clients and subcontractors Monitor contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle Implement cost control measures and identify savings where possible Prepare regular financial performance reports and forecasts Conduct site visits to assess progress and subcontractor valuations Liaise with Project Managers, Architects, and Engineers to resolve issues Manage variations, scope changes, and assess financial impacts Prepare final accounts and ensure accurate financial close-out
Essential Criteria Bachelors degree in Quantity surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline Minimum 5 years experience in a similar QS role Strong commercial awareness and cost management capability Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications Excellent analytical and mathematical skills Strong negotiation and communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team High level of attention to detail Professional membership (e.g., RICS) desirable but not essential.
