Reporting to the Senior Estimator, the post holder will be responsible for compiling accurate and analytically assessed estimates for selected tender enquiries effectively and efficiently for the Fit Out Team.
- Analysing tender documentation and compiling material / subcontract enquiries for sending out.
- Preparing builders’ quantities / schedules for estimates where necessary.
- Conducting site visits as required, assessing existing conditions and gathering pricing information.
- Pricing tender documentation accurately, using appropriate labour and material rates and information received from tender enquiries.
- Carrying out a detailed assessment of all pre-tender quotes, regarding competitiveness, compliancy and accuracy. Identifying project risks, value engineering opportunities, and potential cost saving measures.
- Assisting in bid preparation, tender submissions and client presentations.
- Producing all relevant data on time for tender finalisation meeting.
- Attending pre-tender, mid-tender and post-tender meetings and presentations when required.
- Post-tender involvement, as and when necessary, with Buying / Surveying / Construction Department and participation in pre-start meetings.
- Ensuring all contractual obligations are highlighted to the relevant stakeholders e.g. S106 agreements, S278 works, BREEAM, CCS, Party Wall Agreements, Collateral Warranties, Third Party Agreements etc.
- Maintaining up to date awareness of the industry trends, market pricing and construction methodologies.
- Establishing and maintaining good relations with, sub-contractors, suppliers and their representatives as well as any other stakeholders and ensuring that opportunities for future work are followed through.
- Maintaining quality and environmental control procedures in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records of own activity related to projects on Gateway to ensure traceability.
- Being aware of and comply with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy.
- Fulfilling Company CPD requirements undertaking all relevant training and development activities as and when required.
- Mentoring and guiding junior members of the Fit Out Team.
- Contributing to the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

Person specificationRequired Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience in the field of Estimating / Surveying.
- Experience working in the Construction Industry.
- Sound understanding of the construction process.
- Understanding of project logistics and project schedules.
- Building and managing of client expectations.
- Preparing, producing and presenting reports to Senior Leadership and Clients, as well as their representatives.
- Reading, understanding and interpreting construction specification and drawings.
- Contract law knowledge of NEC 4 Lump Sum Contract.
- Understanding of building law and regulations.
- In depth knowledge of health and safety matters.
- Previous demonstrable experience in a construction and/or fit out company.
- Proven track record in the negotiation of contracts with suppliers.
Required
Education:
- HND / Degree in Construction Management or closely related discipline.
- CSR Card.
- CIOB Accreditation.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to breakdown construction operations into logical sequences.
- Being conversant with and have a sound knowledge of modern construction techniques / building methodology and their appropriate application in the estimating process.
- Good working knowledge of Conquest estimating package and other recognised methods to prepare project estimate, in various procurement processes (Traditional, D&B, 2 Stage).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to create and maintain good working relationships.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to motivate.
- Excellent written and oral skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Other –
Required:
- Eligibility to work within the UK and ROI.
- Driving Licence.
- Ability and availability to travel worldwide.
