THE EMPLOYER IS: HUMAN RIGHTS CONSORTIUM This role involves office administration, events support and member communications. The role is well suited to someone building confidence in a professional setting, learning how an organisation runs day to day, and developing administrative and digital communication skills. Training support will be provided.
Responsibilities- General office admin: inbox support, filing, answering calls, queries, scheduling appointments.
- Maintain and update the membership database, including adding new members and updating records.
- Support simple financial admin such as filing receipts and entering basic information onto spreadsheets.
- Assist with reviewing and updating internal procedures.
- Help schedule meetings and events, prepare agendas, and take notes of minutes.
- Assist in setting up online events and updating the website with news or event information.
- Draft simple social media posts and promotional materials using templates.
- Support record keeping and engagement with contractors for office maintenance schedules and contracts.
- Basic administrative skills, including filing, organising documents, and managing inboxes.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable responding to queries by email and phone.
- Ability to take clear notes and summarise information.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
- Confidence using online tools for scheduling, basic data entry, or updating simple information.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and follow guidance from colleagues.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop new skills.
- Experience using databases or CRM systems (e.g., adding or updating records).
- Basic spreadsheet knowledge (e.g., entering figures, sorting columns).
- Familiarity with updating websites or using simple content management systems.
- Experience managing or supporting online meetings, events, or webinars (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Eventbrite).
- Basic experience editing and posting video content for social media or organisation websites.
- Experience supporting events or meetings in any setting. Ability to draft simple social media posts or promotional materials.
- Understanding of how to welcome and support participants online or in person.
- Interest in improving office processes or suggesting more efficient ways of working. Experience maintaining logs, schedules, or trackers (e.g., maintenance schedules).
- Familiarity with policies and procedures of a modern organisation.
- Comfortable in a busy office environment. Initiative to solve small problems independently once trained.
- Interest in developing skills in administration, communications, and events.
