Legal Book Keeper

Brook Street Recruitment is working on behalf of our Belfast legal / solicitor client who are currently recruiting for a full time and permanent Book Keeper/ Accountant

Working closely with the Partners of the firm, you will be responsible for assisting with the smooth day-to‑day running of a busy solicitor's firm's finance department.

Applicants are preferred to have worked in a legal setting but not essential as other bookkeepers / accountants will also be considered - the ideal candidate will have a good understanding of invoicing, finance, book‑keeping.

• Ensuring all finance records are up to date & accurate on the firm's finance system
• Reconciling bank statements
• Accurate and timely processing and recording of incoming and outgoing payments
• Receiving customer payments in person and over the telephone
• Liaising with suppliers and payment of supplier invoices
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns via legal accounts software
• Checking & posting bills & invoices
• Liaising with the firm's accountant to assist in their preparation of statutory returns

• Previous experience within a bookkeeping/ accounts based role is 100% essential
• Good grasp of basic accounting standards and financial processes
• Good communicator with the ability to work well in a team
