The Role This is a hands-on, experienced Accounting Technician position within an established and growing general practice. You will support a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses and personal clients, helping to deliver high-quality compliance work alongside value-added, client-focused support. Recruitment Pack 2025 What You Will Do Prepare statutory accounts for SMEs in line with FRS 102 and FRS 105 Prepare and submit VAT returns and support clients with VAT queries Assist with (or take ownership of) payroll processing and related submissions Support the preparation of personal tax returns and corporation tax computations/returns (depending on experience) Produce management accounts and KPI packs, helping clients understand performance and trends Assist with cashflow forecasting, budgeting and basic financial modelling to support decision-making Work with cloud accounting tools and support clients to maintain strong digital records (e.g. Xero, Quick Books, Receipt Bank/Dext, Hubdoc) Handle day-to-day client queries with confidence and professionalism, ensuring a high standard of service delivery What's in It for You Join a modern, growing, advisory-led practice with a strong reputation and an exciting client base Great exposure to a broad mix of work, including value-added support beyond routine compliance Supportive, high-quality team environment with a focus on development and long-term careers in practice Competitive salary, plus an annual bonus linked to personal and business performance Early finish on Friday 30 days annual leave per year, including 10 statutory holidays Pension plan Professional development and ongoing career progression as the firm continues to grow Based in a vibrant city-centre office building with a strong community feel and regular social/wellness events Requirements Strong experience in an accountancy practice environment (ideally 3+ years, or equivalent depth of experience) Confident preparing accounts from core records Experience across VAT and payroll, with exposure to personal/corporation tax work (level depending on background) Solid Excel skills and strong IT literacy Comfortable working with cloud accounting systems (Xero/Quick Books and associated apps beneficial) Strong attention to detail, good organisation and the ability to manage deadlines Confident communicator with a client-focused approach Accounting Technician qualification (or qualified-by-experience) considered What's the next step?
