Ballyvesey Holdings – Group Accountant, Belfast

Ballyvesey Holdings is the privately owned parent company of a wide range of trading subsidiaries. Established in 1970, the group’s main activities are centered around commercial vehicles in transport and logistics, vehicle rental, truck and van sales, aftersales support and maintenance, trailer manufacturing and spare parts sales, transport industry services, construction equipment sales and rental, and property development.

We are recruiting for a Group Accountant to join our professional team in Belfast.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation of head office monthly accounts, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, fixed assets register and monthly analysis.
  • Maintain balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets, accruals, prepayments and reconcile entries.
  • Assist with group reporting and group returns.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets for head office and consolidated budgets for the group.
  • Support the Group Financial Controller with management of the Group Audit process.
  • Prepare year‑end Accounts and Audit Packs and liaise with external auditors.
  • Raise regular and ad‑hoc inter‑company recharges to sites and coordinate with relevant personnel.
  • Prepare and post relevant journals and review balance sheet reconciliations for group subsidiaries.
  • Conduct ad‑hoc project analysis and maintain relevant documentation where required.
  • Analyse at Group level and provide appropriate reporting.
Ideal Candidate
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Degree level education.
  • Recognised professional accountancy qualification.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting processes and the need for appropriate controls.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to deliver high‑quality work within strict time frames.
  • Proven ability to prepare monthly management accounts.
  • Knowledge of accounting ledger systems – preferably experience of Sage.
  • Flexible in adapting to varied workloads.
  • Professional conduct and attitude.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Willingness to take on new tasks and challenges.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
