Position: Assistant Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Chief
Responsibilities- The City of Belfast is accepting applications for the full-time Assistant Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Chief. The successful candidate will be a highly responsible officer who works under the broad supervision of the Deputy Chief and Chief, in the operation and supervision of the City of Belfast Fire & Ambulance Department. This role executes and assists with the day-to-day operations of EMS, supports Fire and Ambulance Department programs, and fulfills supervisory roles.
The EMS Assistant Chief is responsible for all EMS and firefighting work functioning and responding as an ALS provider to medical emergencies as well as fire-related emergencies to save lives and protect property.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified licensed Paramedic
- At least five consecutive years of active Firefighter (FF)/EMS service experience
- Hazmat Awareness level (with required refreshers); preference for Hazmat Operations level certifications
- Successfully completed ICS 100, 200, 700
- Current EVOC/AVOC certification
- Approved as a driver of all EMS apparatus and hold a valid clean driver’s license; preferred Fire apparatus driver
- CPR / ACLS instructor; preference for Fire Service Instructor 1 and/or EMS Instructor or willingness to obtain within a reasonable period
- Firefighter 1 or Firefighter 2 Certification or willingness to obtain within a reasonable period
- EMS instructor or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hiring/promotion
