Expanded Function Dental Assistant

Overview

Our new Seaport Dental Center, opening April 2026, is looking for an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA). The Expanded Function Dental Assistant (“EFDA”) provides direct chair-side assistance to the Dentist in the delivery of high-quality, patient centered dental services to patients of all ages. In addition to the duties of the Dental Assistant, the EFDA may perform a number of additional specific procedures in accordance with applicable law.

PCHC's Seaport Dental Center is seeking a mission-driven EFDA to help establish our newly renovated 8-operatory practice located within Seaport Community Health Center, anticipated to open in April 2026.

Part-time (38 hours), Monday through Thursday, 7:15 am to 5:30 pm. Fridays and weekends OFF.

Offering a $3,500 sign on / retention bonus for externally hired EFDAs.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• State of Maine Dental Radiographer License required. Must obtain within 3 months if not current at hire.
• State of Maine Expanded Function Dental Assisting license required (requires CDA certificate or hygiene license, successful completion of CODA-accredited or equivalent EFDA program, and successful completion of jurisprudence exam).
• Will have up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.
