Position SummaryThe Controls Engineer reports to the Technical Services Manager – Belen and is responsible for troubleshooting, upgrading existing equipment along with design and implementation. Hands‑on installation of production equipment and hardware design.
Responsibilities & Duties- Troubleshoot and upgrade existing equipment to new equipment design & implementation
- Perform hands‑on installation support for new or modified production equipment
- Machine control knowledge and understand classical control theory
- Demonstrated experience with Fluke Meters, Oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment
- Elaborate electrical schematic drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
- SCADA development knowledge:
Ignition, Python and LabVIEW
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering required.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering project‑based experience required.
- PLC Programming experience.
- HMI development with RSview
32, FT view & C‑more panels. - Hardware design experience with PCL/VFD wiring diagrams.
- Experience with Rockwell Control Logix & Micrologix
- Experience with Koyo PLC programming
- Industrial network protocols knowledge with Ethernet I/P, Devise
NET, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP - Motion control knowledge with servo, stepper, DC, AC drives
- Serial communication knowledge with RS232 / 485
- This position is located onsite at Colorcon’s Belen, NM manufacturing facility.
- Travel: up to 10% domestic/global travel may be required, annually.
