Position: RN - Registered Nurse- 7P-7A

senior behavioral health (rn). Pay dependent on experience starting at $33.00/hr. $5k sign-on bonus - limited time only. This shift offers a shift differential of $3.00 per hour with an additional $4.00 per hour on weekends on top of the hourly wage. Get paid the next day with on-demand pay. job summary

provides professional nursing care under the direction and supervision of a physician in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of catholic care center - senior behavioral health program to the standards of evidenced based practice as defined by the state board of nursing. Coordinates and delegates nursing care utilizing the nursing process, which is integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care.

Accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit. The rn staff nurse may also assume charge nurse responsibilities as required. Works collaboratively with members of the health care team, maintains a safe environment, and provides patient and family education and program services. Works collaboratively with all members of the health care team to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment and provides compassionate person-centered care to patients consistent with role scope, current regulatory standards, and practice expectations.

Demonstrates competency to provide age appropriate care to older adults and geriatric patients age generally 55 years and older.

responsibilities
  • demonstrates performance of tasks necessary to maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu and provide optimum patient care.
  • provides direct patient care and assistance as needed and as assigned to support patients with adls to include dressing, bathing, eating, feeding, and other tasks as needed to ensure quality care and management of the patient.
  • leads and/or assists with program related activities and groups that reinforce daily goals, learned skills, and cognitive stimulation appropriate in line with role scope and training.
  • uses program de-escalation techniques that have been trained and support a trauma informed person-centered approach toward patients.
  • performs patient rounds and safety checks and reports safety issues promptly to the registered nurse during the shift.
  • performs and documents vital signs on patients as assigned.
  • demonstrates appropriate use of patient care equipment necessary to perform role tasks.
  • follows unit safety practices and procedures, including hand hygiene, ppe use, patient assistive devices, falls prevention, and contraband prevention.
  • provides and receives shift report, may serve in a charge nurse function as assigned; leads plan of care and carries out treatment plan objectives and interventions.
  • oversees care provided to patients and directs care as needed; ensures medications are administered accurately per physician orders.
  • notifies the physician for condition changes or other clinical concerns promptly; completes shift assessments and documents in the medical record.
  • works with visitors and families to ensure unit safety; monitors and responds to patient condition per best practice standards and protocols.
  • supervises and assists licensed practical nursing and non-licensed staff to ensure tasks are completed to care standards; transcribes and carries out physicians’ orders; performs aspects of medication administration; conducts near-patient testing as ordered.
  • reviews lab results and reports abnormal or critical values to the physician promptly; ensures therapeutic program is delivered as scheduled; responds to changes in patient milieu to maintain a safe environment.
  • completes accurate documentation in the patient record; admits new patients and completes discharge processes as assigned; collects vital signs and other clinical data as indicated; provides patient education on medications and care.
  • participates in treatment team meetings and quality programs for the unit; ensures consults are completed timely.
  • assesses and implements fall prevention, suicide risk, elopement prevention; completes initial nursing treatment plans and updates as needed; ensures tasks align with team scope during the shift.
  • demonstrates nursing competence and uses the nursing process to optimize patient outcomes; completes chart audits per unit protocols; reports adverse events promptly.
  • creates a safe environment by reporting environmental issues and submitting work orders as needed.
qualifications

education: graduate of accredited two-year nursing program - rn (bsn preferred). Licensed to practice nursing in the state of kansas.

experience: minimum of one year in hospital care setting or senior living environment in an rn role (two years preferred); one or more years working in an acute senior behavioral health program preferred. Basic computer knowledge (word/excel) and experience…
