Veterinary Technicians play a crucial role in animal healthcare. They work under the supervision of veterinarians to provide medical care and support to animals. Their duties encompass a variety of tasks, from clinical duties to administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the examination and treatment of animals.
- Monitor and record animal health and behaviors.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Assist in surgeries and dental procedures.
- Collect and analyze samples (blood, urine, etc.) for laboratory testing.
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines and ultrasound devices.
- Prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
- Educate pet owners about animal care, including nutrition and preventive health.
- Explain treatment plans and procedures to clients.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical areas.
- Assist with anesthesia monitoring during surgical procedures.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and humanely.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for animal care.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.
