  • Shift: 12‑hour nights (19:00 – 07:30), 36 hours per week
  • Unit: 3E CPU (Combined Med‑Surg / Telemetry / PCU) — PCU RN / Med‑Surg RN experience preferred
  • Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
  • Average Daily Census: 30 patients
  • Unit Size: 22 rooms / 30 beds
  • Weekend Coverage: Required (every other weekend)
  • Charting System: Epic (experience preferred)
  • Scrub Color: Navy blue
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med‑Surg / Telemetry RN experience required (cardiac telemetry, PCU, high‑acuity med‑surg)
  • First‑time travel nurses considered with strong CPU/PCU and high‑acuity experience
  • Active Maryland RN license or compact state RN license (must be active at time of submission)
  • BLS (AHA),
    CPI
    , and NIHSS certifications required
  • ACLS (AHA) preferred
  • Comfortable with patient ratios of 5‑6:1 in a telemetry / Med‑Surg setting
  • Ability to float within hospital as needed (travelers float first)
  • References: 2 satisfactory professional references required (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN acceptable)
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
  • Local candidate policy: must reside at least 50 miles from facility
Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, high‑quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex cardiac and medical diagnoses, including CHF, COPD exacerbation, NSTEMI, new‑onset Afib, arrhythmias, sepsis, and renal failure/AKI
  • Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpretation (on‑unit and remote telemetry) — cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
  • Recognize and elevate changes in patient condition; participate on rapid response and code teams as needed
  • Administer medications and therapies per protocol, including heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), and blood product administration
  • Provide pre‑ and post‑cardiac cath care, manage peripheral and PICC lines, and care for chest tubes (Emerson / Pleur Evac)
  • Implement isolation precautions and proper PPE usage
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, PT, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response, phlebotomy, unit secretary) to optimize patient outcomes
  • Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure safe handoffs and continuity of care
