Position Overview

A school district in Bel Air, Maryland is seeking a motivated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our school-based therapy team. This position supports students with speech, language, and communication needs under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The SLPA plays a vital role in helping students achieve functional communication skills that support academic and social success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), under the supervision of a licensed SLP
  • Assist the SLP with speech and language screenings, assessments, and data collection
  • Implement therapy activities targeting articulation, language development, fluency, voice, and social communication
  • Monitor and document student progress and maintain accurate therapy records
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to support communication goals in the classroom
  • Prepare and organize therapy materials and assistive technology
  • Support a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or a related field
  • Current Maryland licensure or registration as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA), or eligibility to obtain
  • Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred
  • Knowledge of speech and language development and common communication disorders
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
