The Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) and eLearning is a vital leadership role dedicated to advancing innovative teaching practices and enhancing technology‑driven learning experiences. In this capacity, the Director collaborates closely with faculty and staff to design professional development and training programs tailored to their needs. This position also manages CETL and eLearning operations, ensuring alignment with the College's mission and strategic goals to foster student success.
This is a full‑time, exempt staff position.
- Providing vision and direction for CETL and eLearning, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives.
- Collaborating with faculty, staff, and external experts to deliver high‑quality training and professional development.
- Developing and implementing instructional technology and professional development programs that support teaching excellence across various modalities.
- Overseeing eLearning technologies and processes to ensure compliance with accreditation, accessibility, and state/federal guidelines.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia; non‑residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.
Required Education- Master's degree
- Minimum of two years of face‑to‑face and online teaching experience as a full‑time faculty member in higher education
- Minimum of five years of demonstrated leadership experience in faculty development, instructional design, or eLearning administration
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience
- Excellent project management skills
- Advanced knowledge of learning management systems, instructional technology tools, and accessibility requirements
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, and Teams
- Ability to identify various needs for HCC faculty development
- Experience with event management
- Familiarity with Quality Matters or similar course quality standards
- Work experience within a community college
40 - 100%
General Weekly Work ScheduleMonday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend hours required. Final schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
