Job Description

The Administrative Assistant I provides administrative support to the Community Education and Personal Enrichment department. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing various department documents, correspondence, agenda, memos, reports, and proposals; updating systems and databases for departmental use; maintaining files; ordering office supplies; maintaining a department calendar; maintaining a budget records, and maintaining all records and reports, purchase orders, billing and invoices, class reports, grading, and student communication.

The position supports the WCE registration desk, building operations, and performs other duties such as creating web pages, flyers and forms; reconciling reports; and organizing and setting up meetings and events; and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position

Required Education

High school diploma or GED

Required Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in a role with direct responsibility for providing comprehensive administrative and office support.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to use basic payroll/accounting/budgetary principles
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Outlook, TEAMS & Excel skills
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment, such as scanner and fax machine
  • Experience using Adobe Sign
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Argos and Ad Astra are preferred. Experience using Banner or similar student information system

Hours per Week

40 - 100%

General Weekly Work Schedule

40 hours per week, M - F, 8AM to 4PM
