Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Arkansas State University–Beebe, a two-year residential community college within the Arkansas State University System, invites applications for a full‑time, promotion‑eligible Instructor or Assistant Professor of Choral Music to begin August 2026. This is a 9‑month faculty position.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in choral conducting and will direct the College’s choir, preparing public performances each academic year. The candidate will teach Choir, Applied Voice, Music Appreciation and other courses in the Fine Arts Department based on qualifications and program needs. Additional responsibilities include providing musical support and accompaniment for the Theatre program and collaborating with other Fine Arts areas as appropriate.

Responsibilities
  • Directing the College’s choir and preparing public performances
  • Developing and teaching courses
  • Teaching face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online courses as needed
  • Recruiting and retaining students to support the choral and broader music program
  • Advising students across Arts and Humanities disciplines
  • Assisting with curriculum development and program review
  • Participating in course and program assessment activities
  • Collaborating with other programs in the Fine Arts Department and other areas housed in the Division of Arts and Humanities on classes, accompaniment, recruitment, and program development.
  • Serving on institutional committees.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, student mentorship, and community engagement, as well as a willingness to contribute to innovative program growth aligned with workforce and community needs.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Music with an emphasis in Choral Conducting, Voice, or a closely related field. Strong computer and instructional technology skills.

Preferred Qualifications

One to three years of teaching experience in secondary or post‑secondary settings.

Ability and interest in developing and teaching courses in entertainment industry and music technology areas—such as recording, sound mixing, stage lighting, and live sound production—to support program growth and expand student career pathways.
