Red Ember Recruitment is seeking a Software Application Support Specialist on behalf of our client based in Gauteng.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting business applications and ensuring the stability and performance of critical systems. The role involves troubleshooting application issues, analysing system behaviour, and working closely with internal teams to resolve technical challenges.
This position is suited to a technically skilled professional with strong problem-solving abilities who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment while delivering high levels of support and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide application support to system users, including answering and resolving inbound support requests.
- Log and track incidents using IT Service Management ticketing systems.
- Investigate and analyse system issues to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in the design and implementation of system developments and enhancements.
- Ensure that system changes are delivered within agreed budget, timelines, and specifications.
- Provide system knowledge and consultancy to internal teams and cross-functional projects.
- Support continuous improvement of systems and support processes.
- Document technical processes and system functionality for support and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain data quality and integrity within systems.
- Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
- Perform routine system maintenance tasks and scheduled processes.
Education
- Minimum 3-year tertiary qualification from an accredited university in:
- Commerce
- Computer Science
- Industrial Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 3 years Application Support experience
- Experience supporting production systems in a customer-facing support environment
- Experience using IT Service Management ticketing systems (JIRA Service Management preferred)
Technical Requirements
- Intermediate to Advanced SQL skills, including:
- Stored Procedures
- Queries
- Triggers
- SQL Jobs
- Database management
- Understanding of SQL replication will be advantageous.
- Experience working with database systems, reporting tools, and query tools.
- Strong technical troubleshooting abilities.
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of application support infrastructure and operational environments
- Understanding of financial markets will be advantageous.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload

- Demonstrable technical aptitude
