Salary: £17.00 per hour (enhanced overtime & bank holiday rates)

Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00

The Role
The position involves servicing, maintaining and repairing a modern fleet of refuse collection vehicles and associated HGV waste equipment. Work will include diagnostics, routine maintenance, hydraulic repairs, electrical fault-finding, and supporting MOT preparation.
This is primarily a workshop-based role with occasional on-site repair support when required.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repairs on waste fleet vehicles
Complete servicing and preventative maintenance tasks
Diagnose faults on engines, braking systems, hydraulics and electrical systems
Maintain and repair bin‑lift mechanisms, compactors and RCV bodies
Support MOT preparation and ensure vehicles meet compliance standards
Complete accurate service sheets, defect reports and maintenance documentation
Assist colleagues with general workshop engineering tasks
What We're Looking For
Experience as a Mechanic, HGV Fitter or Waste Vehicle Technician
HGV fitting experience
Waste industry experience – preferred but not essential
Understanding of hydraulics, diesel systems and electrical diagnostics
Ability to work independently in a busy workshop
Relevant mechanical qualifications are welcome but not required if experience is strong
