Job Description & How to Apply Below
This is a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role where your hands-on ability actually matters.
If you enjoy fault-finding, keeping production moving, and being relied upon, this Mechanical Maintenance Engineer opportunity is built for you.
This Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role sits within a regulated pharmaceutical environment, supporting a multi-line production site operating a late shift. The focus of the role is hands-on engineering — responding to breakdowns, resolving mechanical faults, and ensuring production downtime is kept to an absolute minimum. The role is predominantly mechanical, with exposure to pneumatics and basic electrical fault finding, and offers structured onboarding, paid overtime, and long-term stability.
This is a role for someone who has a ‘no job is too small’ mentality, enjoys being on the tools, problem-solving independently, and taking ownership of engineering issues as they arise.
Job Responsibilities
Responding to breakdowns across multiple production lines to minimise downtime
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults including motors, bearings, shafts, rollers, and drives
Carrying out reactive maintenance as the primary focus of the shift
Completing planned preventative maintenance tasks where scheduled
Fault finding on pneumatic systems
Carrying out basic electrical fault finding including fuses, contractors, and drives
Supporting machinery set-ups and tooling changes for small batch production runs
Maintaining accurate maintenance records and GMP documentation
Logging work completed and parts usage on the site maintenance system
Supporting shift handovers and maintenance planning discussions
Contributing to equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills and Experience
Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in a production environment
Strong mechanical fault-finding skills within manufacturing or process industries
Experience with in pharmaceutical, food, or regulated environments preferred

Comfortable working in a breakdown-focused, reactive maintenance role
Good computer skills for maintenance systems and documentation
A proactive, hands-on attitude with a no-job-too-small mindset

Pay and Benefits
Salary up to £40,000
Monday to Friday, 3:00pm – 11:00pm
Paid overtime available
Overtime paid at x1.5 on Saturdays and x2 on Sundays
One Saturday shift in every eight weeks

With a small engineering team and future succession planning already in place, this is an opportunity to establish yourself as a key part of the operation rather than just another number
