Based within Bedfordshire. Unfortunately this service does not have step free access. The building is approximately a 10 minute walk from Bedford Station. Salary: £26,200 Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Sunday 08.00 - 16.00 or 14.00 - 22.00. You may be required to work outside these hours as per service and resident requirements, including bank holidays as required on the rota.

About the Role Join our brand new Mental Health Service which is due to go live April 2026! The service is a step down service, which provides short stay, trauma informed alternative to hospital admission and facilities. The service forms part of a wider integrated initiative for urgent and emergency care. This is an 11 bedded, community based mental health crisis and step down service offering short stay, trauma informed support.

The team will support our residents who are at risk of admission but can be supported outside of mental health hospital settings, by providing tailored support to them to help them overcome their personal barriers, and achieve their goals, to live more fulfilled lives and independent living. We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate Recovery Worker with a focus on achieving outcomes in line with contractual requirements, while ensuring quality and consistency within a trauma informed, psychologically informed environment.

You will deliver flexible, tailored, person centred support to help residents improve their quality of life, overcome challenges, and achieve personal goals. Using your communication skills, you will build trusting professional relationships, support residents to reintegrate into the community, and play a vital role in helping them rebuild their lives through personalised support plans, activities, and partnership working. Key Responsibilities Include:

Create tailored support plans through one to one sessions, group sessions, and multi agency meetings Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents at all times Providing safe, 24/7 short stay support to avoid unnecessary hospital admission Supporting with the creation of tailored support plans in collaboration with the wider team and resident. Focusing on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals Providing step-down capacity for individuals ready to leave acute wards but not yet ready for independent living.

Embedding Psychologically Informed Environments (PIEs) and relational security. Planning activities to engage residents with other people, communities, and opportunities Be a valued and reliable member of the team, completing handovers for night colleagues for a seamless service Supporting residents with taking their correct medication;
Keeping support plans up to date using our online portal Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns when needed. Support residents with taking their medication and keep accurate records. Build good working relationships with colleagues and outside agencies. About You We're looking for a compassionate, motivated, and proactive individual with a commitment to delivering high quality, person centred mental health support.

You will be knowledgeable of mental health and have an understanding and experience in how to support those who struggle. You thrive in fast paced environments and adapt well to changing situations, maintaining a non judgmental and trauma informed approach.
