Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist – Sexuality & Relationship Health Specialist provides holistic, neuro-affirming occupational therapy services to autistic adults aged 19 and older within the Pinwheel adult services model.

This role is intentionally structured with an approximately 50/50 split between core occupational therapy practice and specialized sexuality and relationship health support. Pinwheel recognizes sexuality, intimacy, and relationships as essential components of autonomy, wellbeing, identity, and quality of life.

Working from a strengths-based, trauma-informed, disability-affirming, and rights-based framework, the practitioner collaborates with participants to deliver functional assessments, therapeutic interventions, adaptive strategies, and sexuality- and relationship-focused education. All supports are participant-led and responsive to individual communication styles, sensory profiles, identities, cultures, and lived experiences.

Role Composition (50/50 Split) 50% – Occupational Therapy Practice

Functional assessment, daily living skills, sensory processing, executive functioning, emotional regulation, accessibility strategies, and environmental adaptation.

50%್ಯ – Sexuality & Relationship Health Practice

Sexuality and relationship education, therapeutic support, consent and boundaries work, sensory-informed intimacy planning, relationship skill development, and lifespan sexuality transitions.

Key Responsibilities

A. Occupational Therapy Responsibilities (50%) Assessment & Intervention

Deliver occupational therapy services within the Pinwheel model, emphasizing choice, self-determination, flexibility, and individualized pacing.

Conduct OT assessments addressing sensory processing, executive functioning, cognition, emotional regulation, and environmental factors.

Collaborate with participants to develop and implement intervention plans supporting daily living, self‑regulation, communication, independence, and meaningful participation.

Provide therapeutic support for functional routines, adaptive skill development, and community engagement.

_ticket recommend and implement sensory strategies, environmental SPDX modifications, communication supports, and assistive devices.

Support individuals through life transitions,иха changes in routines, employment or education goals, menopause, late diagnosis, and independent living skill development.

Collaborate with the  Pinwheel Supervisor and interdisciplinary
