Part Time Accounts Assistant

A well-established organisation is looking to bring in an experienced finance professional to support its transactional team. This part‑time role is based in Bedford and offers a stable, well‑structured working environment within the aerospace sector. It suits someone who enjoys ownership of the ledger, tidy reconciliations and processes that actually make sense.

The role

This Part Time Accounts Assistant role sits within a small, knowledgeable finance function and plays a key part in keeping supplier accounts accurate and up to date. Working within aerospace, attention to detail, compliance and consistency are genuinely important rather than just words on a slide deck.

What you will be doing

• Matching supplier invoices to goods received and resolving discrepancies
• Processing supplier payments in line with internal controls and payment runs
• Coding and handling non‑PO invoices, ensuring correct authorisation
• Reconciling the purchase ledger so balances are complete and accurate
• Reviewing supplier statements and investigating outstanding items
• Auditing expense claims and processing reimbursements through expense systems
• Managing GRNI reconciliations and monitoring credit card and fuel card activity
• Liaising with suppliers and internal teams to resolve payment queries

What we are looking for

• Around 2 to 3 years' experience in a purchase ledger or similar Accounts role
• Comfortable working with ERP systems such as Sun Systems or comparable platforms
• Exposure to spend management or expense software
• Confident communicator with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Organised, methodical and comfortable working through reconciliations

• Part‑time position, 20 hours per week
• Full‑time equivalent salary of £26,000 to £28,000 per annum, pro rata
