Location:

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 depending on experience

Job Description

As a UPS Commissioning Engineer, you will work individually and as part of a team, leading in UPS project commissioning, specialist site testing, system fault finding and repairs, and providing high-level technical support at locations in the UK and Europe.

A Member of the Team

At Vertiv, you will be a valued member of the Vertiv Service Operations team, collaborating to exceed our clients' expectations. You’ll contribute your technical expertise, take ownership of situations, and support other UPS service team members with best practices and innovative solutions.

Customer Focused Delivery

You are expected to respond to all service calls professionally and on time while on duty. To deliver an outstanding customer experience, leverage your expert knowledge of UPS, batteries, power distribution, and site monitoring equipment. You may also attend customer site meetings and provide technical recommendations.

Flexibility

Frequent travel and staying away from home are pivotal to this role. We ensure that everyone shares the responsibility fairly and equitably.

Regulatory, Process and Health & Safety Excellence

You will manage all activities respecting legal requirements defined by ITC regulation and environmental requirements defined by EU regulations and local norms. You will ensure all current Vertiv EHS processes are followed.

Key Duties

  • Undertake UPS project commissioning of new equipment primarily in the Southern region of the UK and occasionally in European locations.
  • Conduct specialist on-site testing of new installations using power quality analysers, oscilloscopes, and load banks, including SAT, IST, and customer acceptance testing.
  • Manage system/site-specific documentation.
  • Complete equipment status and project activity summary reports regularly.
  • Foster a collaborative relationship with Vertiv's central technical support and R&D teams.
  • Cooperate with the local Delivery Organization to manage field site visits.
  • Contribute to generating preliminary and final Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports.
  • Prepare and distribute technical information for the field.
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Become proficient in the operation of Vertiv's product ranges.
  • Travel will be required both in the UK and overseas.
  • Maintain UPS under contract and attend breakdowns and repairs as necessary.
  • Identify potential opportunities for equipment sales, maintenance contracts, and replacements.
  • Maintain a consistent understanding of corporate and departmental policy.
  • What Will Make You Successful?

  • HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years in the Electrical/Electronic Industry.
  • 5+ years in a UPS field operations or customer interfacing role.
  • Ability to communicate technical information and read electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and cooperation in all stakeholder interactions.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effectively plan, set priorities, and coordinate work activities.
  • Remain level-headed in stressful situations.
  • Strong self-motivation and results-driven approach.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
