Role: Associate Lecturer – Technical and Professional (Modern Methods of Construction)

Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary: Salary is up to £30.00 per hour DOE and Qualifications

Hours/Weeks: 10.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid

About

The Role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Technical and Professional (Modern Methods of Construction) to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Deliver Construction Curriculum – Plan, teach, and assess practical and theoretical learning in modern methods of construction, integrating industry experience.
  • Support Student Success – Mentor and guide learners to build confidence, achieve goals, and provide pastoral support where needed.
  • Enhance Curriculum Development – Create schemes of work, share industry insights, and contribute to vocational opportunities and employer engagement.
  • Maintain Quality & Compliance – Monitor progress, implement quality processes, and ensure health, safety, and safeguarding standards are met.
  • Promote College Values – Participate in marketing events, team meetings, and continuous professional development while upholding equality and inclusion.
About You
  • Essential Qualifications – GCSE Maths and English, Level 3 qualification in specialist subject.
  • Industry & Subject Expertise – Recent experience in the relevant sector with strong understanding of vocational skills and knowledge required for success.
  • Teaching & Learner Engagement Skills – Ability to motivate and engage learners, plan effectively, and deliver high‑quality learning experiences.
  • Professional & Organisational Competence – Excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills; strong decision‑making and confidentiality awareness.
  • Values‑Driven & Flexible – Committed to safeguarding, equality, and continuous development; adaptable to changing hours and able to travel across campuses.

What is an Associate?

Associates work on a short term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you. Typically an agreement runs from January to December and may be renewed thereafter.
